About Ernie Basciano

Thanks for wanting to learn a bit more about the person behind the camera. My passion for photography began when I inherited my first camera at the age of 17. It was a Nikon FE which was a really nice quality slr film camera. I started to read lots of different photo magazines and books to learn how to improve.

Improvement was expensive back then, when film and developing and printing were involved. I learned to keep a log of my exposures and techniques I was attempting so that I could later compare the prints and try to figure out what happened and why.

I still have the craving to learn new techniques and to photograph different subjects. I believe it is that desire which keeps things fresh and interesting, and makes me want to pick up my camera every day.
